The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's been quiet around here today with the boys at school!  So did I scrap anything, make any cards, or work in my office?

No.  I went to the store...by myself...and took as long as I wanted! From Millan.Net

Another Studio J Layout: The Splash Zone

Good evening! See...I did make it out of the boys' room after all. And you know what? It's already a mess again!

Sigh, what's a mom to do. Smiley from millan.net

It's after dinner and once again I find myself with a few moments alone. The boys all went for much needed haircuts. Bio-Comp came home looking like he tried to sweep the school sandbox with his head, Knock-Out looks like he's been climbing trees all day, and Loquacious is just plain shaggy!

It made me miss the times when they stayed cleaner for longer...and reminded of this layout I did a while ago of the boys in the tub.

I promise...it's rated G! Of course, this was when we just had the two older boys. Actually, I don't even remember life like that at all anymore. Funny how years of sleep deprivation will play tricks on your mind, right? Smiley from millan.net

Anyway, I wanted to share something else wonderful about Studio J. But first, the layout...and I'm sure I'll get an earful about how embarrassing this is to show to the world.

Studio J: Splash Zone Reflections Kit

Now what I wanted to talk about with this layout are the photos. These are just some silly little photos that have been sitting in our computer for 5 years,Smiley from millan.netbored out of their mind. And if I took them, there must have been a reason I did. Oh, yes...because I thought they were cute and wanted to remember them that way. But I doubt I would have ever printed them and made a classic layout with them, they were just some fun shots of the boys.

Studio J really made this a quick and fun way to get these photos out of the computer and into my albums. Where I can publicly embarrass the boys a right proper way. I've been going through our pictures and finding little snapshots of our lives and preserving them this way...instead of storing them away...and I love seeing how things have changed through the years.

How many photos do you have hidden away in your computer waiting to see the light of day?

Can You Get A Sunburn From A Card?

Today we have a birthday in the house. Smiley from millan.net Loquacious is now 6 years old. He asked me to make him a card the other day with very specific instructions. He wanted a phoenix bird wearing a birthday hat and steam coming out of the hat. Those that know him can guess why.

Ok, then. The only problem was I had no phoenix stamps. And I looked for some online, but apparently "phoenix" does not translate to "cute, kid friendly" images. So I had to get inventive. I did find a digi stamp of a bird, a parrot, but I thought it would give me something to work with. Yes, I know it's missing the birthday hat and steam. But after the instructions he's given me for his cake...he'll just have to forgive me

Stamps: CTMH It's Your Day (August SOTM), Dustin Pike digi stamps
Inks: CTMH Orange, Sunflower
Papers: CTMH Tinkerin' Reflections Kit, Black

It has been so hot around here lately and making this card just seemed to add to the heat. I get hot just looking at it!

I think some Christmas cards are in order pretty soon to offset this heat. At least in my mind.

You Had Me In...Staples?

This past Sunday, Loquacious had a bit of an accident at church. "Bit" meaning: fell against his chair in Primary, blood running down his shirt, trip to the ER, two staples in the back of his head. Now, this was the first time one of my boys has needed a trip to the hospital like this. And as a Mom, I was trying to not show any kind of panic least he freak out because I was. So I calmly let Enigineer take him to the ER while the rest of us stayed at church. And in the end, he was only at the ER less than an hour. But that hour I was imagining all kinds of things going wrong, too silly to say out loud. He's okay, but won't let me call him Frankenstein.

So, turning to more pretty things, because staples in your boy's head is not, here is another card I made with this month's stamp. This is a good money holder card, or maybe some kind of look-I-got-you-season tickets card. But I don't seem to have either, so I'm just guessing.

I did take pictures of the shirt and staples...I couldn't help myself. It will be a challenge to scrap them, but a challenge to not scrap them. I know some of you understand that.
