The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

It's been quiet around here today with the boys at school!  So did I scrap anything, make any cards, or work in my office?

No.  I went to the store...by myself...and took as long as I wanted! From Millan.Net

Purple Is A Manly Color

It's been a while since I shared a Studio J layout with you.  And since I'm still (kinda) unwinding from Convention, this would be the perfect time to show you a quick layout the boys helped me with.

Last year we started the boys in Kempo lessons...because they sorely needed some sort of physical outlet!  (Especially Knock-Out, man that kid can wear me out by mid morning!)  A couple of weeks ago, they all took their purple belt test and passed.  We got some shots of them outside the gym with their instructors...plus lots of them acting, well like themselves.

Studio J: Moonlight Kit

Some of the boys in the class weren't too sure about wearing purple, but their instructors told them it was the manliest belt color.  I suppose it worked because they all proudly wear it now!

This is the last week of summer break for the boys.  We've been going non stop for the past month, and I'm looking forward to getting a break myself! From Millan.Net

You Are My SonShine Studio J Layout

The end of August is quickly coming and the sun here in Tucson is still toasting us. Smiley from millan.net

I wanted to share one of my recent favorite layouts from Studio J. Well, they're all my favorite! But this one was fun to do and such a random little bit of life.

It was just a random October afternoon a couple of years ago.  My youngest and I were in the backyard.  I was probably lamenting about the number of weeds or something, but he was having fun on the swings.

It was nothing big, but he kept giggling about it.  That's when I thought, "I'd rather remember him like this than those stinking weeds." I ran to get my camera.  He stayed on the swings long enough for me to get a couple of good shots.  I don't remember much else about that afternoon, but I do remember his smile...and that's what is important!

Splash Zone Reflections Kit

Have you checked out the new papers in Studio J lately?  Care to take a guess as to how many paper kits are available to you?  What are your favorite photos that are still lurking in your computer?  Get them out and into your albums!

Sweetheart Workshop

This weekend is the Sweetheart Workshop at The Craft Closet. This is the featured layout in the kit, but we'll also be creating 3 additional layouts and decorating a "10 Things I Love" My Creations 3-Ring Binder.

I thought I might have a hard time with the new Sweetheart paper pack...after all, how often do you think I see the color pink in my house? Smiley from millan.net

Right, not often. So I had to really think about the pictures I was going to use for all these layouts! And you know what? I cheated with the first set and made them all black and white!

This is Knock-Out sitting on my dad's back porch last autumn enjoying a popsicle. The full color pictures are beautiful...if I do say so...with deep green grass, blue sky and bright red popsicle. Not exactly right for the pages, but after a little photoshopping, I think they work pretty well! I changed the photos to black and white, obviously, but what you may not be able to see is the now pink popsicle he's enjoying.

And yes, I did stamp out his actual name in the banner title...just covered it up for the blog post!

Those of you registered for the workshop, I'll see you Saturday night, 6-10!

Those of you not able to make this month's workshop, look for next month's announcement for the Miracle WOTG!

Twitterpated

I think I've recovered from this weekend...aren't naps wonderful? Unless your family lets you sleep too long, then you wake up more tired than before. Does that happen to anyone else?

So I promised to show some of the things I've been working on...here ya go!

Stamps: CTMH Hello There (exclusive to the Twitterpated Workshop Kit)
Inks: CTMH Chocolate
Papers: CTMH Twitterpated My Reflections Kit

Sorry about that little glare in the picture. Someday I will be getting a photo tent and all glares will be banished from my house!Smiley from millan.net

This is one of the layouts available in the new Twitterpated Workshop Kit. Each kit comes with a Level 2 My Reflections Kit, an exclusive B-size stamp set, and a coordinating accessory, which in this case is the Chocolate Collection Ribbon Round. I added a few other items to dress it up a bit more: some hemp, brads, and some brand new chipboard buttons.

These new Workshop Kits also come with card making cutting guides...but that will have to wait for another timeSmiley from millan.net...don't want to overstimulate you guys!

Move Over Rico Suave

Okay, you know from the post about my chocolate birthday card that I have a slight desire for chocolate.
Smiley from millan.netJust slightly. But you know what? I'm not the only one in the house that shares my...love for the sweet stuff. It seems Knock-Out has inherited some of my shameful tendencies for this guilty pleasure.

I introduce to you his alter-ego, Choco Suave!

Stamps: CTMH Everyday Celebration, Building Block Alphabet
Inks: CTMH Chocolate
Papers: CTMH Everyday Celebration, Chocolate, Colonial White

I can't tell you how much I wanted some chocolate after making this...I swear, the paper started smelling like chocolate to me.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking...Smiley from millan.net

It's Been A Zoo!

Today, instead of staying home and getting things ready for club meetings this weekend, I went to the zoo with Bio-Comps class...and all the other 2nd graders at school. It wasn't too bad, Knock-Out and I just walked around with the small group Bio-Comp was assigned to. We saw all the animals, they fed the ducks, then went to the park for a sack lunch. Knock-Out was just about knocked out by the time we got home.

After getting settled at home again, I got to work on some upcoming workshop items. I might have them all finished up by tonight. In the meantime, here's another card I did with this month's Stamp of the Month. I know those of you up north probably don't think snow all day is a fun thing, but down here it's the stuff of my boys dreams. Just a couple of details about this card. I used my snowflake punch and a transparency for the snowflakes. I painted them with CTMH's Create-a-shade paint and added Sparkles.
